About Vänersborg
Little Paris
Vänern
Vänersborg Museum
At the gateway to Vänern, where the lake meets the Göta älv, lies Vänersborg – the town Birger Sjöberg nicknamed Little Paris. Its position by the water has always shaped the place; from here the connection runs down towards Gothenburg, and shipping has marked the town's history. Vänersborg is the main town of its municipality and was long the residence town of the old Älvsborg County.
On the map you find the places that give the town its character: Vänersborg Museum in the middle of town, the well-known Frida statue and the wide Nygårdsängen and Dalbobergen nature reserves with views over the water. All around spreads Vänern, Sweden's largest lake.
Perhaps you grew up here, perhaps it is the summers by the lake that stayed with you. Wear this shirt and the outlines tell their own story – for anyone who knows where the Frida statue stands and knows the smell of Vänern early in the morning.
