Every design for Uddevalla

With its byname "the heart of Bohuslän", Uddevalla has long known what it is: a town where the land meets the sea. It lies where the Bäveån flows out into Byfjorden, one of the Skagerrak's fjords, and is the largest urban area lying wholly within the province of Bohuslän. The nearness of the sea has shaped both daily life and identity, and still draws everyone who loves water sports.

The town's inheritance can be read in its places. The Swedish Seamen's House Museum tells of life at sea, while the Bohuslän Defence Museum preserves the memory of the coast's role through the ages. Wilhelm von Braun's grave and Thorburn's memorial stone are here too, traces of people who left their mark. The name Peace of Roskilde recalls the history that once made Bohuslän Swedish.
