About Trelleborg
Sweden's southernmost town
The Palm Town
The Sankta Katarina monastery ruin
At the very bottom of Söderslätt, where Skåne meets the Baltic and the ferries put out southwards, lies Trelleborg – Sweden's southernmost town. Palms greet the visitor at the south-western approach, a much-loved feature that has given the town the nicknames the Palm Town and Little Miami.
It is a place with a long history behind it. The Sankta Katarina monastery ruin bears witness to medieval times, and around the town there are traces to stop at: grave monuments such as Anna and F.B. Stenbeck's and A.P. Jönson's family grave, the memorial to Nils Hansson, and the Utkiken viewpoint. At the Mikaeli fountain, daily life and town pulse gather in a way that feels typically southern Skåne – open, light and with the sea never far away.
A map t-shirt of Trelleborg catches exactly that: the street pattern running towards the harbour, the blocks around the monastery ruin and the southernmost point on the Swedish map. A small postcard in fabric form for anyone who recognises themselves in the town of palms.
