Every design for Sundsvall

There is something in the air in Sundsvall, wedged between the hills and the sea in Medelpad. Perhaps it is the smell from the forest industry, perhaps the view from Norra Berget on a clear summer evening when the town spreads out below. Sundsvall is marketed as the Dragon Town, and over the summer some thirty artfully made dragons appear along the streets and squares.

There is Sundsvall museum and the Crafts and Seafaring museum for anyone wanting to dive into the history, and walking through the town you meet art in abundance - everything from Näcken to the statue of Gustav II Adolf. To the north lies the Birsta retail area, and around the corner the High Coast waits. The summer fills with a street festival and a dragon boat festival.

And the town is an obvious stop for everyone commuting between Stockholm and the country's more northerly parts. For anyone who grew up here the run of the streets sits in the marrow. A map of Sundsvall becomes more than lines and names - it is the blocks you know blindfolded, the way home along the sea.
