Hållö lighthouse

The Smögen boardwalk is the heart of it all. Along it the red and yellow boathouses wind close to the water, and every summer the quay fills with tens of thousands of visitors who come for the sea, the prawns and that particular west coast mood. Smögen is an island in Sotenäs municipality, and in time the place has grown together with its neighbours Kungshamn and Väjern into one coastal community.

All around are places lodged in local speech and on the map: the Marble pool where you cool off, the steep Vindhålet and Smöghålet, the rock formation Holländarbågen, and inlets such as Havrebukten and Glömmen. Out on the neighbouring island of Hållö, the Hållö lighthouse rises and watches over the approach - a classic silhouette for anyone who has sailed in towards Smögen.

Do you already carry Smögen in your heart? Then we hope this map feels like an old friend. Perhaps you remember the smell of seaweed, the sound of gulls over the boardwalk or an evening when the sun sank behind the rocks. Take a little of that with you, wherever you are headed.
