About Skoghall
Hammarön
The Klarälven delta
The Vänern coast
South of Karlstad, on the northern part of Hammarön, lies Skoghall at the delta of the Klarälven with a long shore out towards Vänern. As the main town of Hammarö municipality it is a place where the water is never far away and where daily life is marked by the nearness of both river and lake.
It is a town with plenty of inlets and routes to get to know. Sankt Olofs gryta is among the names you remember, and along the coast run Kråkviken, Prästängsviken, Kråkholmsviken and Edsviken - places where you have swum, fished or simply stood looking out over Vänern. The cholera grave tells a piece of the district's history too.
For anyone who grew up in Skoghall these names sit in the marrow. A map of the town becomes more than geography - it becomes a collection of memories from paths, inlets and evening walks you already know by heart.
