Every design for Sävsjö

It was the railway that shaped Sävsjö. When the tracks were laid across the Småland highlands in the 1860s, the community quickly grew into a lively railway junction, a place where trains met, goods changed hands and people stopped to catch their breath. That role as a trading place and resort left traces still felt in the town, the main town of Sävsjö municipality in Jönköping County.

Sävsjön lies like a mirror beside the community, and all around a landscape of water spreads out – Skrapstadssjön, Ekesjö and the small Mäjensjögölen with its singing name. This is the Småland of lakes and forest, where recreation has never been far away and where generations have found their own favourite spots along the shores.
