About Sala
Sala silver mine
The cobbled square
The Aguéli Museum
South of Sala rests one of the town's real treasures: the silver mine that once made the district known far beyond Västmanland. Today the mine's galleries and the area around them are a landmark that marks the whole place and offers both history and wide-open nature.
Sala is the main town of its municipality and is almost divided in two by the Sagån – the greater part lies in Västmanland, while Norrby church on the eastern side belongs to Uppland. In the town centre you find the square with cobblestones underfoot, and a little way off lie Väsby Kungsgård and the artist's home that is now the Aguéli museum.
You who wear this shirt have perhaps walked by the mine ponds or crossed the square early in the morning. Wherever you are, you take a small greeting from Sala with you – the map sits closest to the heart.
