Every design for Östhammar

Far into Östhammarsfjärden, where the Baltic narrows towards land in northern Roslagen, Östhammar lies well sheltered between water and forest. The town is the main town of its municipality in Uppland, and the setting marks everything – the water is constantly in view, and national road 76 runs past on the western side.

The old water tower rises above the rooftops as a landmark you recognise from far off. Down at Sjötorget, town and bay meet, and a walk out towards Krutudden gives a view over Husbackasundet and the calm inlets. A little further off, Kanikebolssjön glitters – nature is always close in this part of Roslagen.

For anyone who grew up here, the geography sits in the marrow: the way down to the water, the evenings by the sound, the summer by the bay. A shirt with the map of Östhammar becomes a way of carrying exactly those places with you, wherever you go.
