Every design for Munkfors

The Klarälven runs straight through Munkfors, and much of life has always turned around the water. On the eastern side lies the works community with its long history, while Munkerud grew up on the western bank as a district of owner-built homes. Two bridges span the river and tie the two sides together – for many, that way across the water is an obvious part of everyday life.

The place name is said to go back to an old salmon fishery under the Munkerud homestead, and the stories still gather. At the Laxholmen cultural centre the history of the place lives on, and for families with children the Fantasiparken is an obvious destination on a free day.

Munkfors is the main town of its municipality, a place where you feel both the rush of the river and the calm of the blocks. For anyone with roots here the map is a reminder of where you belong.
