Every design for Motala

Between Vättern and Boren, where the Motala ström meets the Göta Canal, Motala spreads out – an old industrial town that has become a much-loved summer destination in Östergötland. Boat people stop here on their journey along the canal, and anyone who likes the history of technology and industry finds plenty to get caught up in.

There is something about summer in Motala that stays with you. The smell of water at Varamobaden, a day that swings past the Motala motor museum or the Swedish radio broadcasting museum, perhaps a look into Motala art hall or down to the Vättern aquarium. Charlottenborg castle is among the town's landmarks too. It is a town easy to feel at home in, whether you still live there or come back every year.
