Every design for Lycksele

In the middle of Lapland, where the railway between Hällnäs and Storuman meets European route 12 and the winding Blå vägen, lies Lycksele. The town is the main town of its municipality and carries a unique title: the first place in the province to be granted town privileges. All around, the Västerbotten wilderness spreads out, mile upon mile and quiet.

This is where you come close to the wild - beaver and otter along the waters, musk ox and bison in the enclosures, reindeer in the forest and the story of the settlers who once broke ground in the north. It is a district shaped as much by nature as by the people who stayed.

Of all the animals it is perhaps the reindeer that catches the feeling best - a sign of Sámi Lapland and of a town surrounded by open country. If you have roots or memories from here, the map becomes a small piece of the home district to keep with you.
