Where the Arbogaån flows out into Mälaren lies Kungsör, with most of the town south of the river in the province of Södermanland and a smaller piece north of the water belonging to Västmanland. The position at the meeting of river and lake sets the tone for the whole place – close to the water, open towards Mälaren and the main town of Kungsör municipality.

Rundelborg and Hogsta are among the names that fix the town in the landscape, and for anyone who grew up here, places such as Mörkrets backe and Jägaråsen bring an immediate sense of home ground.
