Every design for Jokkmokk

Ájtte, the Swedish mountain and Sámi museum, sets the tone for all of Jokkmokk. Stories of the mountain world and Sámi life are gathered here, and the town has long been an obvious meeting place in Lapland. That Jokkmokk lies just north of the Arctic Circle is felt in everything - in the light, in the seasons, in the atmosphere itself.

Best known is perhaps the Jokkmokk winter market, which celebrated 400 years in 2005 and still draws people to the art and craft shops. Around the town are places such as Storknabben and the Hamberg research station, and the Sámi education centre bears witness to how alive Sámi culture is right here.
