Every design for Hofors

On the boundary between Gästrikland and Dalarna, some fifty-three kilometres west of Gävle, lies Hofors – the main town of the municipality that shares its name and the church village of the old Hofors parish. Its position close to the provincial and county border has shaped the place and marked the district that grew up here.

All around, the waters spread out and give the area its character. Lissjön, Kalven and Lill-Gösken are on the map, as are Knivtjärnen and Lillflyet, and for the inquisitive the Haga Science Center gathers curiosity under one roof. It is the landscape between the lakes that often stays in the memory.

For anyone who grew up in Hofors or calls the place their own, the geography sits in the marrow: the roads home, the tarns you swam in, the church village. A shirt with the map of Hofors becomes a way of keeping exactly those places close, however far away you have ended up.
