About Gnesta
Lakes and nature
Långsjöbadet
The Western Main Line
At Frösjö Strand the water laps against the shore and the trains rush past on the Western Main Line – this is Gnesta, between Södertälje and Nyköping, with the Södermanland countryside as its nearest neighbour. It is a place where town and forest meet, where you get from the station out to lakes and paths in no time.
It is the position that makes Gnesta what it is: wedged between water and greenery in a way few places can match. Around the corner you find Valasjön and the open green of Thuleparken, and when summer comes, Långsjöbadet is where people head to cool off. Living here means nature is never further away than a short walk.
A map of Gnesta carries exactly these places – the shoreline at Frösjö, the bathing place at Långsjön, the railway tying it all together. On a shirt it becomes a small way of taking the lakes and forests of Sörmland with you wherever you go, a memento of summers by the water and trains passing on their way somewhere else.
