About Falkenberg
The mouth of the Ätran
The Kattegat coast
Rian design museum
Where the Ätran flows out into the Kattegat lies Falkenberg, the main town of Falkenberg municipality in Halland. The river has shaped both the town and life here, and along the water and in the old quarters you find landmarks such as Borgen and the slender Ätrajungfrun. The West Coast Line passes through the town, and the E6 takes you south towards Copenhagen or north by way of Gothenburg towards Oslo.
There is something about the combination of river and sea that stays with you – the smell of salt, the sound of water making for the coast. For many, Falkenberg stirs memories of late summer evenings, of trips to the Rian design museum or the Olympia photography museum, of familiar corners and lanes walked a hundred times.
On this map you recognise your town: the streets down by the Ätran, the way home, the places that mean something. A shirt with the map of Falkenberg becomes a way of carrying the feeling of having grown up or settled right here – where the river meets the sea.
