About Bromölla
Iföverken
Ivösjön
Works community
The smell of clay and a plume of steam from the factory chimneys - that is how many remember Bromölla, a Skåne works community just inside the Blekinge border. The whole town grew up around Iföverken, and the industrial heritage is still in the air today. Around the old railway station businesses remain, while residential streets and a few apartment blocks spread around the present station.
In the northern part lies Ivetofta with its church, and down by Ivösjön the bathing place at Korsholmen waits, where summer days are glad to linger. The water tower watches over the rooftops, and anyone wanting to understand the soul of the place can walk through the Iföverken industrial museum, the Arbetarmuseet and Leos Lanthandelsmuseum.
It is the Iföverken industrial museum that captures the heart of Bromölla: the story of hands, craft and a community built around its works. Having that map across your chest is a way of carrying that history onward - for everyone with roots in the town, or simply fond of places with real character.
