Every design for Boden

In the middle of Norrbotten, some way upstream along the Lule älv and surrounded by forest and marsh, lies Boden. The town is the main town of Boden municipality and has for more than a century been closely bound up with the Swedish defence forces - a garrison town where the uniform has shaped both street life and landscape.

The military history can be read in several places. At the Försvarsmuseum and the Pansarmuseum the story of the forts and the vehicles is told, while the Sjöflyghangaren recalls a time when aircraft took off from the water. The Havre Magasinet bears witness to how the town once had to supply its soldiers. And then those Dansande björnarna - a detail that stays with anyone passing through.

All around, nature quickly takes over. Anyone leaving the centre is never far from forest, river and the Norrbotten expanse that frames the town.
