About Åstorp
The flank of Söderåsen
The Nyvång mining museum
The Kalvahagen nature reserve
Walk through the gate into the Kalvahagen nature reserve and you are in the middle of the landscape that gave Åstorp its character: broadleaf woods, slopes and the north-west Skåne air drawing in off the flank of Söderåsen. Åstorp lies just where the ridge ends and the plain opens out, and the town is the main town of Åstorp municipality, with parts reaching into the neighbouring municipalities.
It is a place with industrial history and greenery side by side. The Nyvång mining museum tells of the years underground, while Perslund and the small parks around Nya torg and Ormastorpsgatan give the town its breathing spaces. The location is good — close to the E4 — but Åstorp itself has kept its calm, down-to-earth feeling, right down to the plain park bench on the square where you are glad to sit a while.
You who recognise the streets and slopes on the map know what this is about. Perhaps you grew up here, perhaps you moved here and stayed. Either way: wear the design with that quiet pride in a town that does not boast, but means something. This is your piece of north-western Skåne, close to the heart.
