About Älmhult
Älmhult is where the story of the furniture warehouse began, and today the IKEA Museum tells that whole journey from a Småland workshop to global interiors. You will also find traces of Carl von Linné here, and in the central blocks the well-preserved wooden buildings still stand from the years around 1900.
It is a town where old and new live side by side — weathered wooden houses on one corner, modern design icons around the next. Walking through the centre feels like leafing through two eras at once, with stories reaching from Blendas backe to the design of today.
As the main town of Älmhult municipality, the place carries its inheritance with pride. The map of Älmhult holds both the streets of the wooden town and the curiosity that once made a small Småland place known around the world.
