Inside Viborg's cathedral the walls come alive with Joakim Skovgaard's paintings of Bible stories. Locals tend to take it in their stride in a city that has been here since the Viking Age, when settlers made their home in the heart of Jutland. Each year the Hærvejsmarchen walking festival brings walkers from home and abroad onto marked routes around the city, and Borgvold, Digterparken and Pilehaven offer green corners for a quieter afternoon.
