About Świnoujście

Known for

widest beach

Known for

Baltic seaport

Known for

island city

At Fort Gerharda, one of the old fortress works that still guard Świnoujście, it is clear what this city is about: the sea and the strait. Świnoujście is a seaport and spa spread over the islands of Usedom, Wolin and Karsibór at Poland's far north-western tip, home to the LNG terminal opened in 2015 and to the tunnel linking Wolin and Usedom, opened in 2023.

For many people the name simply means summer: the widest beach in Poland, the promenade that runs on along the shore to Ahlbeck in Germany, and the Muzeum Rybołówstwa Morskiego or the Muzeum Obrony Wybrzeża on a rainy afternoon. Others think of the harbour, the Fort Anioła and the woods that cover much of the Polish side of Usedom.

And when the road brings you back across the water onto the islands, the light off the Baltic tells you that you are home.
