Svenstrup sits in Himmerland just south of Aalborg, a few kilometres beyond the city's southern edge, with its church set high above the valley of Guldbækken. It has grown together with its neighbour Godthåb into a single town and works as a satellite of the city to the north, yet it keeps its own church, station and main street.

What sets Svenstrup apart is a history much louder than its size. In the fields outside town, the Battle of Svenstrup was fought during the Count's Feud, and a memorial stone for Skipper Clement stands by the Romanesque Svenstrup Kirke on the slope above the valley. Today the town is just as known for what it makes: sausages from the big factory and computer cooling systems from Asetek, which has its headquarters here. Svenstrup station, reopened after years without trains, links the town with Aalborg and Hobro. In Godthåb stands the museum Godthaab Hammerværk, and burial mounds such as Ørnhøj and Grønhøje dot the surrounding fields.

If your school runs went along Hobrovej and your summers in Zincksparken, this is the map of where you are from. Wear it and let people ask where that is.
