Which bay was yours: Arefjordpollen, Kolltveitosen or Grunnavågen? Straume shares one built-up area with Knarrevik, and on the map it is the water that draws the lines, with coves and inlets reaching in on every side.

Kiwanisbenken is a viewpoint people return to, a place to sit and watch the water. Along the shore the names carry on, Geitavika, Knappavika, Bukkatåvika and Gangstø, each a cove someone knows by heart, and two works of art, Juvelen and Konglo, appear on the map as well.

Straume is less a town centre than a shoreline that knows the people who live along it. If you learned to swim in one of these bays, this map is yours.
