Every design for Son En Breugel

The little river Dommel runs between the two halves of Son en Breugel: Son on the left bank, the much smaller Breugel on the right. They were two villages for centuries, sharing a court of aldermen, until Napoleon's time made them one municipality with a single coat of arms.

The municipality lies just outside Eindhoven, in the Meierij of 's-Hertogenbosch, bordered by Best, Nuenen, Meierijstad and the city itself. The Sonse Bergen, the Hooidonkse watermolen and the Sonnius Park are all part of the map. At the end of the Second World War, paratroopers landed north-west of Son during Operation Market Garden, aiming for the bridge over the Wilhelminakanaal; the Airborne monument recalls them. And according to Karel van Mander, Pieter Bruegel the Elder was born in Breugel.
