Every design for Solrød Strand

Between Køge Bugt and the motorway lies Solrød Strand: the long belt of homes along the coast, the town most people simply call Solrød, with Jersie Strand at its southern end and the station connecting it north to Copenhagen and south to Køge. It is the seat of Solrød Municipality and the place where a whole stretch of coast comes home in the evening.

Summer here has a feeling all its own. The beaches along the bay fill with day visitors and holidaymakers who come for boats, sand and sunshine, and the familiar walk from the house to the water becomes the best part of the day. Solrød Center by the station was for a time the longest outdoor shopping centre in Denmark, and the town has raised more than its share of well-known names, from the footballer Jon Dahl Tomasson to the musician Remee and the comedian Uffe Holm.

Then there are the small things only locals notice: the green strip of Jersie strandpark, the parks tucked between the streets, and the seaweed washed up on the beach, which the municipality turns into biogas.
