Skjervøy Church
Skjervøy lies on an island, Skjervøya, out where the Kvænangen fjord meets the mouth of the Reisafjorden. In Northern Sami it is Skiervá and in Kven Kierua, and it is the administrative centre of Skjervøy Municipality in Troms.
The feeling of the place is set by the harbour. The village lives from fishing, serving the fishing fleet of Nord-Troms, and the Hurtigruten calls every day alongside cargo boats and the express boat to Tromsø. Ferries go out to Arnøy and Laukøy. The historic Skjervøy Church stands in the village, and Stussnesfjellet is the high ground on the map. The road to the mainland runs over the Skattørsundet Bridge to Kågen and on through the Maursund Tunnel.
Whether you come home on the Hurtigruten, on the ferry from Arnøy or by road through the tunnel, the harbour at Skjervøy is where the journey ends.
