Every design for Segrate

Segrate lies on Milan's eastern edge, so close that the city's own airport, Linate, sits inside its borders. Between the runways and the suburbs stretches the Idroscalo, a long artificial lake dug in the last century, where rowers train, joggers circle the shore and families spread out on Gud Beach on summer weekends.

The land is the flat upper Po plain: foggy in winter, still and humid in summer, with Vimodrone, Pioltello and Peschiera Borromeo as neighbours and the centre of Milan only a short ride away by suburban train. Within that space Segrate fits a surprising amount — the Novegro fair centre, the Milano Due housing estate, the San Raffaele Hospital, a supercomputing centre and Europark Idroscalo Milano, the amusement park that has been running since the sixties. Older layers show through too, from the Necropoli Romana to the hamlets of Rovagnasco and Redecesio.
