Every design for Sæby

Sæby was granted its market rights in 1524, and the town has been trading along the east coast of Vendsyssel ever since. It sits south of Frederikshavn, and until the municipal merger it was the main town of a municipality of its own. The old quarter, the church, the watermill and the harbour are the threads that run through its story, and they are all still there to be walked.

Ask anyone who spent their summers here and they will mention the harbour first: boats, the glassblowing workshop, the beach, and the tall figure of Fruen fra Havet watching the harbour entrance from the end of the pier. Sæby Museum keeps the town's past close at hand, and Minibyen Sæby shows the streets in miniature, while Nellemanns Have offers a green corner just off the centre.

Then there is Sæbygaard slot, a Renaissance manor house where Herregårdsmuseet Sæbygård shows rooms of historical furniture. It has stood through centuries of Sæby life, which is exactly why it belongs on a map of the town you call yours.
