Known for

De Groote Wielen

Ever spent a summer afternoon watching the grass-court tennis at the Autotron? For much of the Netherlands, that is Rosmalen: the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships, held every year at the former car museum that is now a convention centre.

For the people who live here, the place means something closer to home. It is the village east of 's-Hertogenbosch that became part of the city in 1996 and still feels like a village of its own. It is the football of OJC Rosmalen and the basketball of The Black Eagles, the second-largest club in the country. It is the new streets of De Groote Wielen, named after the deep pools that flood water once scoured out of the land, and the old name of De Annenborch, the castle that became a convent. And it is a place that turns up early in the records, first written down in 815 as Rosmalla, long before Den Bosch itself was founded.

Whether you come back along the A59 or by the paths of the Kanaalpark, Rosmalen is where you belong.
