Castle park
A castle, a landscaped park and a herd of bison: Pszczyna's reputation rests on the Zamek w Pszczynie, the Park Zamkowy beside it and the Zagroda Żubrów. The town lies in the Oświęcim Basin in Upper Silesia, on a sandy, gently rolling plain by the little Pszczynka river, and its southern edge already slips into the valley of the upper Vistula.
Many people here remember childhood walks out to see the bison, or afternoons by the Brama Wybrańców and in the Skansen "Zagroda Wsi Pszczyńskiej". The town's nickname, the Pearl of Upper Silesia, sounds grand, but anyone who has crossed the park on an autumn day knows it fits.
For anyone who grew up in Pszczyna, the map holds the park paths, the castle and the way home through the old streets.
