Île de la Jatte
Affluent suburb
Bois de Boulogne
Out on the Avenue Charles-de-Gaulle, traffic streams west from the Champs-Élysées towards La Défense, and Neuilly goes about its business on either side. An immediate western suburb of Paris, it is separated from the capital only by the Périphérique and the Bois de Boulogne, and its streets are mostly residential, with corporate headquarters and foreign embassies tucked among them. The avenue was partly sunk underground when Métro Line 1 was extended, and work on the new allées de Neuilly began in 2019.
The Fondation Louis Vuitton, the Château de Bagatelle and the Temple de l'Amour all fall within the frame of the map, along with the Musée Roybet Fould. To the west the Seine wraps around most of the Île de la Jatte, which belongs to Neuilly, and the riverside quays run from the Bois de Boulogne up to Levallois-Perret. Vélib' bikes have been part of everyday life since 2009.
And at the far end of it all stands the Arc de Triomphe, straight down the great axis from Neuilly, reason enough to wear the town.
