Every design for Namsos

From the viewpoint at Bjørumsklumpen, Namsos lies spread out at the mouth of the river Namsen: the town on the north bank, Spillum across the water, and two bridges stitching them together. This is the regional centre of Namdalen, home to the hospital that serves the whole region and to the head office of Statsskog.

What makes Namsos its own is timber. The town once had many sawmills; only one still runs, in the middle of town, and Norsk Sagbruksmuseum tells the rest of the story. Outside the town centre, Namsos is built mostly of wooden houses, old and new. The town was bombed during the Second World War, and Namdalsmuseet and Kunstmuseet Nord-Trøndelag keep its history and its art, while Rock City is another landmark in town.

Anyone who has climbed Bjørumsklumpen knows that view of river, fjord and town, and that is the Namsos worth wearing.
