Every design for Mława

Mława is the town of Zawkrze, the largest in this small historic corner of Masovia, and the Muzeum Ziemi Zawkrzeńskiej is where the region's history and nature are kept. Founded in the Middle Ages, it was a royal town, and its streets still show Baroque and Art Nouveau buildings. These days it is also a local industrial centre, best known for a large LG factory.

The town sits on the Seracz river close to the border with Warmia-Masuria, on the major railway between Warsaw and Gdańsk. That position has rarely been quiet: Mława lay on the old border between the Russian and German empires and saw heavy fighting in the First World War, and in September of the Second World War the battle of Mława was fought just north of town. Princes of Masovia held court here before the town even had its charter, and Swedish troops later burned it.

On the market square stands the Kościół pw. Świętej Trójcy w Mławie, a church that great fires have swallowed and the town has rebuilt. Wear the map and you carry that same stubborn habit of starting again.
