Known for

Warta gorge

Luboń sits on the Warta right up against Poznań's southern edge, with the Wielkopolski Park Narodowy beginning where the town ends. It is a compact, busy place, counted among the hundred most densely populated towns in Poland, with the A2 motorway and the Poznań–Wrocław railway running through it.

What makes Luboń unusual is that it is three places in one: Old Luboń, Żabikowo and Lasek, long-established villages merged into a single town in the middle of the twentieth century. Each brought its own history. Żabikowo had a Polish College of Agriculture that the German authorities forced to close, and later a Nazi prison camp, remembered today by the Muzeum Martyrologiczne w Żabikowie and by Józef Gosławski's monument Nigdy wojny, ‘Never War’. Workers from the local factories joined the August strikes that led to the founding of Solidarity. Kościół pw. Świętej Barbary rises over the streets, and the Pomnik bł. Edmunda Bojanowskiego honours the town's patron.

If Luboń is where you're from, keep the river and the three old villages with you – they are all here on this map, closer together than anyone from outside would guess.
