Ever wondered what lies a few kilometres up the river Kvina from the Fedafjorden? The answer is Liknes, the administrative centre of Kvinesdal Municipality and its largest settlement, set a short way up the valley from where the river empties into the Fedafjorden. Everyday life gathers here: the shops, the school, the municipal offices and Kvinesdal Church.

Kvinaparken takes its name from the river that shapes the whole village, and the viewpoint at Nonskarknuten gives you the valley from above. Culture comes in two museums: Lister Utvandrermuseum i Kvinesdal, the district's emigration museum, and Marcelius Førlands kunstmuseum. Just east of the village lies the Saron Valley, home of the missionary centre Troens Bevis Verdens Evangelisering, while Storekvina sits further up the river to the north and Flekkefjord lies to the west.

The village has lent its name to the whole municipality once already: from 1900 until 1917, Kvinesdal Municipality was called Liknes. Today the name belongs to the village again, and for anyone who grew up along the Kvina, it is still simply where home begins.
