Moorland
From the Wietzeblick the land opens out to the north, flat and green, towards the moor and heath beyond Langenhagen. The town presses right up against Hanover's northern edge, yet its own territory runs out into the Kaltenweider Moor and the Bissendorfer Moor, protected wetlands on a ridge that leads on towards the Lüneburger Heide, with the Muswillensee on the northern boundary.
Brinker Park is the green space closer to the centre, and sculptures stand all around the town, many of them thanks to the Kunstverein Langenhagen, known for championing modern art. Langenhagen also has a lively comedy and cabaret scene, and more than one thing people assume belongs to Hanover: the city's airport lies within the town's boundaries, and so does the Neue Bult racecourse.
Langenhagen grew from a place first recorded as Nienhagen into a town of villages, among them Engelbostel, Godshorn, Kaltenweide, Krähenwinkel and Schulenburg. Whichever one you come from, the moment your plane touches down at the airport, you are already home.
