Road junction
Hiltonskogen walks
Miklagard Golf
Kløfta is known as the place where the roads split: the RV2 towards Sweden branches off the E6 here, two railway lines heading north go their separate ways, and the name itself means 'the cleft'. It also had Norway's very first station building, put up as a works office halfway along Hovedbanen and later moved to Jernbanemuseet at Hamar.
For the people who live here, though, Kløfta is a home village rather than a junction. Ask them and they talk about walks in Hiltonskogen, ski tracks laid over the fields in winter, the shops at Romerikssenteret and the teams of Kløfta IL, from football and handball to floorball and e-sports. Ullensaker Church, the Romerike cathedral, stands just outside the village, and Miklagard Golf ranks among the best courses in Europe. Kløfta even has a story people enjoy telling: Augustus Halvorsen Hilton, father of the hotelier Conrad Hilton, was born here before he emigrated to the United States.
Bakkedalen Idretts- og aktivitetspark is where young Kløfta trains and plays. If you spent your evenings there, this village belongs on your shirt.
