Every design for Hørsholm

Ever noticed the stag's head on Hørsholm's coat of arms and wondered where it came from? It points back to Hirschholm Slot, the royal palace the whole town was planned around and which vanished long ago. Hørsholm Kirke now stands on its site, and the old palace gardens, Hørsholm Slotshave, are the largest public park in town.

What sets Hørsholm apart is the way it has gathered its neighbours in: Usserød, Rungsted and Smidstrup grew into it during the twentieth century, and today the urban area spills across three municipalities. Between the Øresund coast and the woods of Rungsted Hegn and Folehave Skov, everyday life moves between the beach at Rungsted, Hørsholm Mølle and Rungstedlund, the former home of Karen Blixen and now a museum. Trommen, the cultural centre, houses the main library, and Hørsholm Egns Museum keeps the local story.

For anyone who learned to cycle along these coast roads and forest paths, Hørsholm is the place where the sea, the trees and the palace park all mean the same thing: home.
