Every design for Fondi

The lake of Fondi is no ordinary lake: two channels, the Sant'Anastasia and the Canneto, link it to the sea, so the tides keep its water shifting between fresh and salt. It lies on the Piana di Fondi, a small fertile plain walled in by the Ausoni and Aurunci mountains and open to the Tyrrhenian, where greenhouses grow early crops for Rome and a long sandy beach runs from Sperlonga to Terracina along the Gulf of Gaeta.

The Castello Baronale di Fondi recalls the Caetani barons, who for two centuries made the town the centre of their power and of its art. Around it, the historic centre and its walls still form a square, following a Roman camp, with the old Via Appia as its main street; for more than two thousand years this was the road from Rome to the south. The Museo Del Medioevo Ebraico and the Terme Romane add further layers of history.
