Which Capannori do you mean? The comune is really forty hamlets spread across the Lucca plain, and the busiest of them is not Capannori itself but Marlia. Between them lie fields, low hills and the old lanes of what was once the eastern territory of the Republic of Lucca.

Geographically it is one of the largest comuni in its province, running north to south across the plain, from the Altopiano delle Pizzorne down to the Compitese and Monte Pisano, next to the provinces of Pisa and Pistoia. The Compito area in the south-east takes its name from the Latin for crossroads and mixes plain, hills and low mountains; streams coming down from Monte Serra feed the many fountains that still give its villages clean drinking water. Most of the hamlets date from medieval times, and churches such as the Pieve di San Paolo and the Pieve di San Quirico e Giulitta stand among them, while the Museo Contadino della Piana di Lucca keeps the farming life of the plain in view.

Whichever hamlet you call yours, from Marlia to Colognora di Compito, this map has room for all forty of them.
