Two churches
Ask anyone in Telemark where Bø is, and they will point you halfway between the lakes Seljordsvatnet and Norsjø, along the river Bøelva. Bø, or Bø i Telemark, is the administrative centre of Midt-Telemark Municipality, and for well over a century and a half it was the centre of the old Bø Municipality, until that became part of Midt-Telemark.
Bø museum keeps the village's own story, and the past is never far away here: both Bø Church and the Old Bø Church stand in the village, with the memorial stone Minnesteinen ved Bø Kyrkje beside the church. The Sørlandsbanen railway and the main road run straight through, and Bø Station has long brought people in and out of the valley.
Many of them came to study. The University College of Telemark has departments here, and the well-known concert venue Kroa i Bø shares the college building, so the village has a student life unusual for its size. Along the river lie pools such as Midtbøhølen and Sagahølen.
A summer evening in Evjudalen friluftspark, a late gig at Kroa: that is the Bø people carry with them.
