Grundfos Museum: The Founder’s Home keeps the memory of Poul Due Jensen, who founded the company that would make Bjerringbro known far beyond the Gudenå valley. Grundfos, the world's largest pump manufacturer, still has its headquarters here, and the factory and the town have grown up side by side.

There is something steady about Bjerringbro that people who leave it tend to remember: the river running quietly through the middle of town, the slopes of the valley on either side, the trains between Viborg and Randers. The town began with a single bridge. A miller on Møllebækken wanted customers from the far bank and built a bridge over the Gudenå at his own expense, the bridge at Bjerring that gave the town its name. A railway station followed, and with it a monthly market and a quay for shipping goods on the river. The southern district, Sønderbro, spread across the water. Gudenådalens Museum and Grundfos Museum: The Factory tell more of the story, and the handball club Bjerringbro-Silkeborg has given the town a Danish championship.

Coming back across the bridge, with the river below and the valley rising on both sides, you are home.
