Did you build your first LEGO model in Billund, or just dream of it? Few towns of this size mean so much to so many people around the world, and yet for the people who live here, Billund is simply home: a town in Jutland whose name means a grove with bees.
There is a particular feeling to growing up in the place where the bricks were born. The story started small, with Ole Kirk Christiansen buying a joinery in town, turning leftover wood into toys and having them painted by local women. From there came the factory, Billund Airport, now the second largest in Denmark, and the first Legoland theme park. Today LEGO House stands in the centre as a place to build and play, Lalandia Billund draws families to the largest water park in Scandinavia, and the Lego Group still has its head office here.
Whether you went to school here, worked at the factory or still fly home through the airport, this map is yours. Wear it with pride the next time someone asks where the bricks come from.
