Aursmoen is best known as the centre of Aurskog: the village where the old Aurskog Municipality was run from, before it became part of Aurskog-Høland. It sits in the north-west of the municipality, on the road between Bjørkelangen and Sørum, and it is where the surrounding countryside comes to shop, meet and get things done.
For people from here, Aursmoen means the familiar, unshowy things: the road in from Bjørkelangen, the park at Linnåkerparken, the grounds at Preståsen vel, and Aur prestegård, the old rectory that now serves as a museum. The village has grown steadily over the years, but the centre still feels like the middle of a rural parish rather than a suburb.
When you drive in along the road from Sørum and Aurskog's centre opens up around you, you know you are home.
